This list was first done as a hand-out for the 2002 Arner family reunion, but it has been significantly updated since then.

This list is based on the best known information to date. It is not guaranteed to be complete. If you know of a first or very early settler that isn’t shown, please let me know.

Montgomery County, Pennsylvania:

Hans Ulrich1 and Verena (Eberhard) Arner, Upper Hanover area, about 1735 (Ship Passenger List and Church Records).

Lehigh County, Pennsylvania:

Hans Ulrich1 and Verena (Eberhard) Arner, North Whitehall, about 1744 (Land Warrant and Church Record).

Carbon County, Pennsylvania:

Ulrich2 and Margaretha Arner, Towamensing, probably late 1760s, but definitely by April 1770 (Church Record and Land Survey).

Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania:

Heinrich2 and Catherine (Daubenspeck) Arner, West Penn, by 1772 (Tax List), but left in 1779.

William3 and Magdalena (Krumm) Arner, West Penn, 1798 (Land Deed and 1799 Tax List).

Northumberland/Lycoming/Montour Counties, Pennsylvania:

Heinrich2 and Catherine (Daubenspeck) Arner, Augusta, 1779 (Tax List), but left about 1795.

Heinrich3 and Elisabeth (Billick) Arner, Muncy Creek, 1810s (1820 Census), but left in the 1820s.

Jacob4 and Margaret Aurner, Moreland, 1820s (1830 Census), but left about 1834-1835.

Henry4 and Sarah (Hill) Orner, Turbut, 1820s (1830 Census), but left in the 1850s (but left two sons as permanent residents).

Northampton County, Pennsylvania:

Johannes3 and Christina Arner/Ahner, Lehigh, probably mid-1770s, but definitely by 1786 (Tax List).

Jacob3 and Margaretha (Kern) Arner, Allen, late 1780s (1790 Census).

Adams County, Pennsylvania:

Daniel and Elizabetha3 (Arner) Rex, Butler, 1785 (Church Record and Tax List).

Felix3 [married Juliana Becker] Orner, Butler, 1785 (Tax List).

Luzerne County, Pennsylvania:

Martin3 and Magdalena (Solt) Arner, Nescopeck, 1790 or 1791 (County Histories).

Jacob and Salome3 (Arner) Rittenhouse, Sugarloaf, about 1797 (County Histories).

Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania:

Heinrich2 and Catherine (Daubenspeck) Arner, Hempfield, about 1795 (Church Records).

Armstrong County, Pennsylvania:

Heinrich3 and Elisabeth (Billick) Arner, Buffalo, 1790s (1800 Census), but left in the 1810s.

Leonard3 and Barbara Arner, Allegheny, probably by 1815 (Deed Record).

Columbiana County, Ohio:

Matthias and Elizabeth3 (Arner) Lower, Fairfield, about 1799-1801 (County Histories).

Mahoning County, Ohio:

Philip3 and Susanna (Broadsword) Arner, Ellsworth, 1803 (County Histories).

Johann3 and Susan (Heinrich) Arner, Springfield, about 1815 (Children’s birth info and 1820 Census).

Clinton County, Pennsylvania:

John4 and Elizabeth (Paul) Orner, Bald Eagle, about 1809 (Baptism Records and 1810 Census).

Pickaway County, Ohio:

Georg3 and Apollonia Orner, Salt Creek, about 1816 (Church Record and 1820 Census).

Butler County, Pennsylvania:

Tobias4 and Katherine (Daubenspeck) Arner, Parker, about 1820 (Marriage info and County History).

Lawrence County, Pennsylvania:

John4 and Mary (Myers) Arner, Mahoning, early 1820s (County Histories).

Livingston County, New York:

Henry 4 and Catharina (Paul) Arner, Caledonia, about 1824-1825 (Baptism Records and 1830 Census).

Peter4 and Louisa Magdalena (Knauss) Arner, Groveland, about 1825 (Baptism Records and 1830 Census), but left in the 1830s.

Heinrich3 and Elisabeth (Billick) Arner, York, 1820s (1830 Census), but left in the 1830s.

Somerset/Hunterdon Counties, New Jersey:

George B.5 and Elizabeth (Osborne) Orner, Hillsborough, 1820s (Marriage Record), but left in the 1850s.

Stark County, Ohio:

Peter4 and Barbara (Burget) Arner, Lexington, mid-1820s (1827 Land Patent and 1830 Census).

Clarion County, Pennsylvania:

John and Elizabeth (Koch) Arner, Madison, about 1827 (1830 Census).

Ashtabula County, Ohio:

Peter4 and Roxana (Downing) Arner, Windsor, 1830s (1840 Census), but left in the 1850s.

Sussex County, New Jersey:

Jacob F.5 and Margaret (Stickles) Orner, Newton, about 1831-1832 (Marriage Record).

St. Joseph County, Michigan:

Philip4 and Mary (Dugan) Aurner, Sturgis, early 1830s (County Histories), but left in the 1850s.

Seneca County, Ohio:

Henry4 and Harriet (Lawrence) Orner, Adams, about 1832 (Land Patent).

Joseph4 and Elizabeth (Boyer) Orner, Adams, about 1833 (Land Patent).

Sandusky County, Ohio:

Georg3(?) and Apollonia Orner, Sandusky?, about 1833 (estimated).

Crawford County, Ohio:

Jacob W.4 and Margaret Aurner, Chatfield, circa 1834-1838 (Children’s birth info and 1840 Census), but left in the mid-1840s.

Lenawee County, Michigan:

Peter4 and Louisa Magdalena (Knauss) Arner, Macon, 1830s (1840 Census).

Franklin County, Pennsylvania:

Felix B.5 [married Elizabeth Harmony] Orner, Guilford, mid-1840s (Marriage info and 1850 Census), but left in the mid-1850s.

Jeremiah5 and Anna (Hartzell) Orner, Guilford, circa 1854-1859 (Marriage info and 1860 Census), but left after 1860.

Holmes County, Ohio:

George B.5 and Harriet (Smetzer) Orner, Ripley, mid-1840s (Children’s birth info and 1850 Census), but left in the 1860s (but returned in the 1870s).

Felix B.5 and Elizabeth (Harmony) Orner, Ripley, mid-1850s (Children’s birth info and 1860 Census).

Huntington County, Indiana:
