From an interview with Barry in 2015 (https://digitalcollections.museumofflight.org/items/show/45830): "I can remember in 1969; we hadn’t flown yet; I went back to visit the parents in Britain. And I went back there with a guy called Jim Von Der Linn, who sometime volunteers at the Museum. Jim was working in Flight Operations at the time. We were both on business trips, and he and I both stayed with my parents over the weekend. And we went out for a drink at one of the local pubs one night, and I met a bunch of people that I’d known there years before, and they said, “What are you doing?” And Jim and I pumped up the 747 and said, “This thing’s going to change the world.” And they said, 'Yeah, right. Okay.' [laughs] And sure enough."
