From John Guzowski: Regarding the changes you saw in Africa, well you know I have not stopped working on the continent, both East and West, so have see the changes building. West Africa is indeed behind in a lot of ways, but the phone technology is not one of them. Cleanliness IS one of them, however. And my visit to Togo last year was sad in that respect....one-use black plastic bags strewn all over the country like an ugly carpet! Barkoissi was a nightmare, and they're still handing them out at the market like candy. When I refused to have my Gombo put in a bad, the lady said to her friend next to her in Moba that the Yovo doesn't want the bag because its black! And yet a lot of people in the village complained to me that goats are eating plastic bags and dying.....go figure!
