Instructions for Installing Dies in Ridgid Dropheads 1. Remove 4 screws, cover plate and 4 old dies. (Note, a hand impact tool may be helpful to remove the screws.) 2. Ensure slots are clear of chips and burrs. 3. For normal threading the throats should be towards the pipe guide opening and make sure the dies numbered 1,2,3,4, as installed, match the numbers next to the four slots. 4. Install cover plate and tighten screws evenly but not snug. 5. Put the head, guide end first, on a threaded pipe and turn until hand tight. Having properly positioned the dies in the head, tighten the screws. 6. Remove from pipe and check for looseness of each of the four die segments. If there is any movement, tighten screws until snug. If this does not eliminate looseness, disassemble and determine the cause. If slots are worn, replace the head.
