Alex's scones recipe 2 cups flour 8 tablespoons butter (1 stick) 1/3 cup sugar 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 sour cream 1 large egg 1/2 cup raisins (or dried cranberries or currants) zest of one orange Preheat oven to 400°F. In a small bowl thoroughly mix zest and sugar. In a medium bowl mix remaining dry ingredients. Cut butter into flour mixture (pea sized plus a bit more). Add sugar and knead until incorporated. Then the raisins. In the sugar bowl mix sour cream and egg until smooth. Mix with flour mixture until just combined - dough sticky. Flatten dough on floured surface to 3/4" thick circle. Cut into 8 triangle pieces. Place on baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for about 15-17 mins until tops begin to brown. Serve hot from oven or once they have cooled.
